普通的“车辆相撞”在英语中可以用car collision表示,如果是好几辆车“连环相撞”则会用pile up表示,名词形式为pileup,比如,这则新闻当中既用了动词形式“56 vehicles piled up on a Beijing-Kunming expressway”,也在标题中用到了名词形式“17 killed, 37 injured in N China pileup”。我们知道pile up原本的意思是“堆积”,在这里形容连环相撞的事故场面也的确很形象。; U: j& i5 @7 @5 R1 P
7 P: h2 e/ _/ ^2 z$ Q" J7 H
此外,crash也常用来表示“撞车”,但这里不一定是两车相撞,也可能是车辆撞到了别的物体上导致事故发生。所以,car crash包含的意义比car collision要广一些。另外,“飞机失事”也用plane crash来表示。
